| Euro-Mediterranean Industry Forum- Reshaping the Mediterranean Post Crisis Industry- and the EC Invest-in-Med Conference | |

Under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Nazif, Prime Minister of Egypt, the Euro-Mediterranean Industry Forum and the EU Invest-in-Med Conference took place on the 21st- 22nd April 2010. The Conference focused on the accomplishments of the Mediterranean region to this day and the future challenges especially in the light of the financial crisis. Possible solutions and benefits for the economies from both shores were discussed. Among the distinguished speakers were H.E. Rachid Mohammed Rachid, Minister of Trade and Industry, Amr Moussa, General Secretary of the Arab League, H.E. Marc Franco, Ambassador of the European Union, Galal El Zorba, Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, BusinessMed and Med Alliance. In addition to this, more than 250 industrial leaders from the northern and southern Mediterranean borders and the heads of the chambers of trade and industry participated in the event. Furthermore, Amr Moussa, General Secretary of the Arab League and Naguib Sawiris, Chairman of Orascom Telecom, were awarded the “Mare Nostrum” prize for promoting the economic North-South integration and for outstanding accomplishments in their fields. The conference is an opportunity to start communication channels with donors and to magnify the chances of benefiting from grants and finance mechanisms as it is a tool to promote growth of industry, commerce and investment in the region. From this perspective, the Cairo Declaration was announced and signed by representatives of EuroChambers, ASCAME and BusinessMed. |
