Slovenian Companies meet with Egyptian Counterparts


The Prime Minister of Slovenia H.E. Borut Pahor as well as H.E. Dr. Mohie El Din Minister of Investment were the guests of honor at the Slovenian-Egyptian Business Seminar held by The Confederation of Egyptian European Business Association (CEEBA). The event took place Tuesday December 15th, 2009 with a Slovenian business delegation seeking Egyptian counterparts.

The seminar was addressed, by H.E. Prime Minister Pahor, H.E. Dr. Mohie El Din, as well as CEEBA chairman Mahmoud El Kaissy. Dr. Nevine El Shafei, Vice President of The General Authority for Investment (GAFI) presented the excellent investment opportunities available in Egypt.

She was followed by Andrej Cah of Luka Koper Port which became an Excellence Award Finalist in 2006. Mr. Jožko Èuk, President of Slovenia Chamber of Commerce followed his speech and H.E. Dr. Matej Lahovnik, Slovenian Minister of Economy provided the opening for his Excellency the Prime Minister. Egyptian ambassador to Slovenia H.E. Ahmed Farouk as well as Slovenian Ambassador to Egypt H.E. Borut Mahnic were among the many VIPs to attend.

The initiative to establishing strong business cooperation with Egypt is highlighted by Egypt’s potential as an export base to the Arab and African market as well as Slovenia’s location at the center of the EU. 50 Slovenian companies participated in the business seminar including the automotive, tourism, health and education sectors.

Among the 20 participating fields, 400 business to business meetings were held. CEEBA Secretary General Dr. Alaa Ezz pointed to IT and maritime transportation as two of the most important fields participating. He also confirmed the development of four production and service advancement projects funded by the EU that have aspired from the event.
