The initiative “TECHNOLOGIES TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION: INCREASING MED INDUSTRY COMPETITIVENESS THROUGH EFFICIENCY ENHANCEMENT AND COST OPTIMIZATION” aims at dissemination European technologies and at promoting business cooperation agreements between representatives from both sides of the Mediterranean in the framework of the Spanish exhibition MATELEC 2010.

The initiative focuses on Technology as one of the Keys for contributing to the reduction of energy consumption. The project will make emphasis in those industrial sectors that represent the largest and least costly area for reducing CO2 emissions. The ultimate goal is to increase the productivity and competitiveness of the Meda industrial sector with special emphasis on SME's.
The initiative’s added value stems from the importance given to the implementation of energy efficient measures at an SME level, that is, complementing the different governments’ recent Energy Strategies by seeking to give instruments (technology and know-how), to the microeconomic level actors, to increase competitiveness and productivity through enhanced cost optimization.

The three-day conference starting on Wednesday, 27th October 2010 will include a visit of the MATELEC 2010 Exhibition and an Opening Seminar followed by a B2B-Match Making containing individual business meetings to facilitate cooperation on Thursday, 28th October 2010. On Friday October 29th, optional technical visits will be offered to the participants.
